Tour Details for The Royal Bavarian Cycle Tour 2008 |

Day 1. Arrive in the medieval town of Landsberg am Lech. Day 2. Cycle via Kaltenberg Castle and St. Ottilien monastery to Stegen and then to Wörthsee (about 27 miles). Day 3. Today you tour the land of the five lakes; first to Pilsensee, then to Andechs monastery - as well known for its brewery as for its architecture and its music. Then via Pähl to the southern edge of the Ammersee lake, a wildlife reserve. Continue to Diessen (between 16 and 35 miles). Day 4. First to Wessobrunn and its monastery, then through forest to Peissenberg. Finally along the River Ammer to Peiting (about 29 miles). Day 5. Cycle through the beautiful countryside of the Pfaffenwinkel to Steingaden, where there is an impressive church, then to the world famous Wies Church, probably the finest of all Bavaria's rococo masterpieces. Finally via the amazing Royal Castles to Füssen at the foot of the alps (about 28 miles). Day 6. Leave Füssen along the shore of the Forgensee lake. Continue to a viewpoint (fine view of the alps) and to the north of the lake. Then follow a former railway route via Lechbruck to the attractive town of Schongau (about 27 miles). Day 7. The final day takes you back to Altenstadt which you passed through yesterday. Continue along the former rail route to Welden in time for lunch at a famous trout farm. Finally back to Landsberg (about 27 miles). |
